KNOCK KNOCK
who's there?
I remember i managed to get a wide-ish shot for the opening, however my wide lense attatchment was playing up as usual and i had to use the standard lense size.
Hema contemplates who or what was at the door
my make-up fx for my role as the evil menace. make up applied by matthew parkinson. Since we were shooting it in black and white it didn't have to be epic, still a good job.
The right bord is the first incarnation of the short, i was planning to be in it myself (mainly because i know i will always be there to finish shooting), but thankfully decided against it. First board is some musings on door shots, i drew both at work during a typical boring shift
Thought i'd throw in a colour pic as my NEW re-cut is in fabolopus technicolour!!! I originally created the short as a black and white ode to the Twilight Zone. However i was never happy with the edit and when i finally had time to go back and re-cut i decided to keep the colours i shot with as they added more to the look
the hallways empty......or is it?
Some scribbled storyboards i did at work on my deskpad. Think we achieved pretty much what i was after, did ideally want a long corridoor to shoot for when Hema's character is running back to her flat door, but gotta work with what you got
the shock factor, with a jokingly evil dead reference......what the hell, couldn't help myself
matty p applies the horror blood to my face, look at the sheer concentration!! many thanks
My scribbles on how to shoot the end scene with a double shot of Hema aka the girl. Ultimatly i never bothered with the greenscreen due to time so went with the fast pan from Hema in doorway to Hema stood in hall looking distraught, I was mega impressed when i cut the two shots togethere and think it looks pretty good all in all.
Always a problem when making an amateur no budget short, how do you light it? well we did ok in parts and not good at all in others. Still we had that many shots to shoot,it had to be done or it would have been just another load of notes in a drawer in my desk.
Great poster designed by artist Alan Bulmer for our Indiereign campaign. The short is available to buy and rent, however it's now free to watch on my youtube site.
