"SPELL"

A simple boardgame turns deadly.........

​

This short was a nice interesting diversion for me,

also the first time i'd tried to enter a shortfilm competition ​

EVER!.

​

The competition is called "Blood Games", being advertised

through the 'Popcorn Horror' app. The theme had to be set

around a game, either real or psychological.

​

It sounded cool and i had heard a lot about them

so i thought it'd be worth a try.

Plus the chance to show a bigger audience my style of work

got me moving.

​

I sat and brainstormed some ideas, nothing came at all, i simply

don't work like that. So i started thinking of boardgames

i had in the house and how i could use them

in a horror theme. I had a few BAD ideas then i

came across the scrabble board, i started messing around

with the pieces and suddenly i had it!​

​

I arranged to shoot pretty quickly and got help from

a camera operator, Sarah Watt, i met at one of my recent

casting days. She did a great job behind the camera

and that freed me up to work with the actors.

​

Thanks to Tim Shread and Susan Leiper for acting their

socks off and making it come to life. Also Susan kindly

let us film it at her house so we had a location,

wouldn't have been the same if it was filmed

in a field!
