SPELL
Here's my MAIN storyboard i drew for the shoot. Knowing that we had limited time to shoot this i went with main coverage shots and you can tell from comparison we got everything on here, in a fashion.
The instant i got this still from the vid i KNEW it would be the poster "child". It says everything that's worth saying about the short. Should be a good hook for any youtube trolls out there
Now this storyboard was more of a "If we have time" backup. I like to shoot extra more 'weird' shots as cut ins. I did get one or two but to tell you the truth.....we didn't need them :)
Susan Leiper gives her coldest performance ever! I truly believed that she was the character. I told her to imagine that her boyfriend (in the short) had cheated on her somehow. That she was full of RAGE and had found a way to get her own back....at his own game
Cheeky little reference, the short was created for entry to a short competition run by the "Popcorn Horror" App. "Blood Games" was the name of the comp and entries had to be set around the style of a game, real or psychological. My first idea was a spoof of the "death plays chess" theme which would have someone playing mini pool and Jenga for their life!.....thankfully i thought the idea was TERRIBLE and didn't make it.
Tim's character starts as a first class arse, clearly thinking he's better then his girlfriend. I wanted him to be so UP at the beginning so when we start to show his "ruination" we actually root against him. Hopefully this worked for you :)
Tim snaps back, clearly getting frazzled and losing his cool. He told me after that he was trying to make it as natural as possible, like he had stumbled into the situation himself.
This was a beauty shot i found, Susie's character gives a little giggle as she finds the pain and confusion of her boyfriend rather amusing!
Tim's P.O.V suffers as Susie's words begin to take hold of him
Perhaps the second time i have had to make some fake blood for a short. I found a basic recipe online and made it together the night before. Ingredients included: red food colouring, golden syrup, gravy granules, bit of water and some dark gravy sauce. Looked pretty good and even better after i'd changed the colour styles in the edit
Tim's P.O.V again, Susie acts so coy!
Tim's simulated heart attack was pretty much his own invention. I didn't have to push him on how to react, he genuinely looked in pain.
